He says of the audition for the show, “Don’t be scared or anything, but when you’re in front of a large man doing the Haka, you’re going to feel it. You’re going to feel some energy coming at you.” He did the Haka (war chant) and the rest is history!

The film was first released on August 17, 2011, in four countries: France, Belgium, the Phillipines and Iceland Belgium, Iceland, and the Philippines before the North American release on August 19. The film was a box office bomb, and received largely negative reviews. But that didn’t deter Momoa.

A Serious Crush

Lisa Bonet played bill Cosby’s daughter on “The Cosby Show.” Nobody quite knows the reason why she left but she was known as a rebel. Later she married Lenny Kravitz and together they had daughter Zoë.

“It was crazy. A guy smashed a pint glass in my face. I got a little over 140 stitches in my face,” he said of the bar fight. “[Hair] just doesn’t grow there anymore.” He also joked that he married wife Lisa Bonet before it happened, so she had to embrace it. “I got my wife beforehand, so . . . if she doesn’t like it, too bad. “Pride of Gypsies”

Jason has a production company called “Pride of Gypsies.” It is inspired by the fierce collectiveness of a lion pride and the nomadic, free-spirited element of gypsy culture. He has the tattoo “Pride of Gypsies” inked on his right forearm.

This just proves that Jason Momoa isn’t just a gorgeous beefed-up guy but has brains and was prepared to dedicate his life to the ocean.

Diet

Jason had to eat carefully when preparing for and during Aquaman. Momoa had a macros-style of dieting where you measure the grams of carbs, proteins and fats in your diet to achieve a particular ratio, one that’s often designed to build muscle without adding fat.

Of his wife, he says she would leave him if he did (although we are sure she wouldn’t really). He also admits that he is going to play Aquaman for a while and he doesn’t want to wear a wig. He also enjoys wearing his hair in a man bun.

A Head Full of Dreadlocks

Jason had dreadlocks when he got his role on “Stargate Atlantis.” At first, the producers had first asked him to cut them off but later allowed him to keep them. After four seasons of Stargate Atlantis, Jason had enough as they were causing him to get headaches.

jasonMomoa22.jpg

He eventually hacked them all off, and the writers had planned to incorporate Jason’s haircut into season 5 but the network wouldn’t allow it. So, to his dismay, he had to have the dreadlocks reattached. It was such a fuss that he switched to wearing a wig.

A lot of Jason Momoa’s work is really not “kid-friendly.” From being a barbarian on Conan The Barbarian to Khal Drogo on Games of Thrones, most his big roles have been quite violent. Jason was really excited to get the role of Aquaman.
