And She Was Just a Teenager

Lamarr then met another director named Carl Boese and appeared in the starring role of his 1932 film, No Money Needed. Lamarr was swiftly making a name for herself; she went from a mere extra to a starring role in a matter of just two years. It’s important to note that she did all of this while she was only a teenager!

In 1933, at 18 years old, Lamarr was given another starring role in a film that would come to define her career and be remembered for decades. Ecstasy, directed by Gustav Machaty, was a particularly famous and controversial film at the time of its release. It was the first film to really explore female sexuality explicitly. Lamarr appeared in several brief nude scenes.
