Seoul 1900
In the year 1900, Seoul’s first trains between there are Incheon and Chemulpo were opened. In 1901, Seoul’s first railway between there is Busan began operating. This is where things picked up. In 1906, the city’s first newspaper was established, a year later they started a sanitation association, and the year after they opened a prison. This prison is now a museum and back then it was used to imprison Korean liberation activists.
South Korea has been through a lot since the Korean War in the 1950s. In this picture from the 1900s, you can see how small and empty of a city it was. The nation of South Korea has since seen tremendous growth. You would not believe where they are today!
