Korean Airlines Flight 007, 1983

The Korean Air Lines Flight 007 was a Korean Airline which was scheduled to fly from New York to Seoul via Alaska. The airline initially planned to fly from Anchorage to Seoul but changed its course and flew along the Soviet airspace. The Soviet Air Forces responded by treating the unidentified aircraft as a US spy plane and Shot it down with air missiles.

The plane crashed in the Japan Sea. No one on the plane survived. 13 bodies were washed up a week late, but they could not be identified. Below is the last picture of the aircraft before its flight.
