Richards who played the role of Cosmo Kramer in a sitcom, Seinfeld auditioned for the role of Al Bundy. However, the casting director Marc Hirschfeld realized Richard’s natural character was too enthusiastic for the sluggish and scruffy character of Al. Ed fit the character like a glove. Hirschfeld later remembered Richards while casting for Seinfeld, and that’s how Richards got the role of Kramer.
