It’s not always easy taking center stage. You have to have a lot of confidence and really know what you are doing. These music stars gained that confidence by developing it in their group or band.
Known just under one name, Beyoncé has conquered the charts and reigns as queen of all the divas. All her tours are absolute sellouts and she is known to be a perfectionist and a very hard worker. Currently, she is one of the biggest stars in music today.

It wasn’t always this way though. Beyoncé climbed to the top after being in the girl group Destiny’s Child which was made up of Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. They did exceptionally well and cemented their status as one of the best girl groups of all time with hits such as “Say My Name”, “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Independent Women.” They eventually decided to split and sent the statement “After all these wonderful years working together, we realized that now is the time to pursue our personal goals and solo efforts in earnest. … No matter what happens, we will always love each other as friends and sisters and will always support each other as artists.”
Justin Timberlake is a huge star today. He’s not only a great singer and dancer but an actor as well. He performed at the 2018 Super Bowl which was a huge honor and has worked with The Black Eyed Peas, Timbaland, Nelly Furtado and more.
As most people know, Justin Timberlake started out in the hugely successful and commercial band NSYNC. They were often competing for airtime against The Backstreet Boys. Back then, Justin had a set of golden curls and was dating Britney Spears.

Speaking of the one and only Britney Spears, not many people know that she was in a music group before she went solo and we’re not talking about The Mickey Mouse Club. Britney is a huge star. She has been one of the most followed around celebrities on earth.
Before Britney became the Britney we all know and love, she was in a music group called Innosense with a few other girls. Obviously, her talent stood out and she was pushed to be a solo artist and thank goodness for that!
Pink or Alicia Beth Moore is a very talented and unique singer who does her own thing. Lately, not only does she sing in her shows but does aero and acrobatics and shows off her amazingly supple body. She really rocks and has a very powerful voice.
Before Pink was Pink, or Mr. Pink as she had originally wanted, Pink was part of the girl group Choice in 1995. LaFace Records saw potential in her and offered her a solo contract. She was obviously the strongest member of her band and thank goodness for us she went solo because what would music be today without Pink.
Next: All this solo artist imagined was peace in the world
“Imagine” is one of the most beautiful songs that was ever created. The lyrics are pure poetry. It’s a tragedy what happened to him but in his solo career, he certainly stood as one of the most amazing musical artists of all time.
Of course, everyone knows that before John Lennon went solo he was part of one of the biggest bands in history – “The Beatles” which, as we know, was made up of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison.
Chris Cornell had a unique and beautiful voice that carried through the airwaves. As a solo artist, he had the hits “Ferry Boat #3”, “Ghosts”, “Moonchild”, “Sunshower”, “When I’m Down” and more. Unfortunately, Chris took his own life in 2018 and the world mourned his death.
Although Chris Cornell had many solo hits of his own, he first came on the scene with the song “Black Hole Sun” back in the ’90s with the band Soundgarden. He was also in the band Audioslave and came out with the hit “Like a stone” that did very well.
Next: A beloved male pop star
George Michael was one of the greatest music artists of our time. He was funky, fashionable and had a smooth velvety voice that carried his hits. He collaborated with Elton John on “Somebody to love” and Mary J. Blige on “As”.

Before George Michael was a solo artist, he was part of Wham. Wham did extremely well in the ’80s with unforgettable hits “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”, “Last Christmas” and “Careless Whisper.”
Dr. Dre has had a slew of hits. He has also been the man behind major artists such as Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar. Personally, he came out with own hits “Still D.R.E.”, “I Need a Doctor”, “Dre Day” and more.
Before Dr. Dre went solo, he was part of the group N.W.A. They were among the earliest and most significant popularizers and controversial figures of the gangsta rap subgenre, and are widely considered one of the greatest and most influential groups in the history of hip-hop music.

Ice Cube is a rapper and is also a great actor and is often in funny comedies such as “Friday”. His successful solo hits include “It Was A Good Day”, “No Vaseline”, “Check Yo Self”, “Gangsta Rap Made Me” and others.
Before going solo Ice Cube was with Dr. Dre in the group N.W.A . Before that, he was in the hip hop group C.I.A.
Mel C had a really good solo career. She sang many of her own hits and can be remembered for featuring in Bryan Adam’s song “When You’re Gone”. She has her own really good hits such as “Never Be The Same Again” and “I Turn To You”.
Most people know that Mel C started off in the super ultimate British girl group “Spice Girls” which did phenomenally well and spawned talents. Mel C was Sporty Spice. There was Scary Spice (Mel B), Ginger Spice, Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham), and Baby Spice (Emma Bunton).

Nicole Scherzinger is a force to be reckoned with. As a solo artist, she has had hits like “Don’t Hold Your Breath”, “Right There”, “Baby Love” and “Whatever U Like”. She was also a judge on The X Factor.

Before Nicole Scherzinger followed a solo career, she was part of the girl group “The Pussycat Dolls” in which there was a lot of song as well as dance. Their biggest hit was “Don’t Cha” featuring Busta Rhymes.
Zayn or Zayn Malik is an English singer with big hits such as “Pillowtalk” which starred his girlfriend supermodel Gigi Hadid at the time (in the video). He has a very sensual voice which and had other hits “Dusk Till Dawn” and “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” which he sang with Taylor Swift.
As most people know, Zayn Malik started off in supergroup “One Direction” with fellow members Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne. The group signed with Simon Cowell’s record label Syco Records after they were discovered separately on The X Factor.

Michael Jackson is legend status, the same as Elvis Presley. There will never be another Michael Jackson. In his solo career, he introduced “The Moonwalk” and gave us one of the biggest albums to exist “Thriller” with hits such as “Beat it” and, of course, “Thriller.”

As everyone knows, before Michael Jackson went solo, he was part of “The Jackson 5” as well as “The Jacksons” where he took the lead. They were part of what made Motown Records great. Hits like “ABC”, “I Want You Back” and “I’ll be There” will never be forgotten.

Not many people know that the Puerto Rican singer, actor, and author began his career at age 12 with the all-boy pop group Menudo. He was with the group for five years before releasing several Spanish-language solo albums throughout the 1990s.

Brandon Richard Flowers is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is the lead singer, keyboardist and occasional bass guitarist of the Las Vegas-based rock band The Killers, with whom he has recorded five studio albums. He came out in 2015 with his solo record called “The Desired Effect.”
Brandon Flowers is part of the very well-known band The Killers. Their biggest hit was “Mr. Brightside.” The video is over the top and includes actor Eric Roberts.
Björk Guðmundsdóttir is an Icelandic singer, songwriter, composer, actress, record producer, and DJ. Her hits include “It’s Oh So Quiet”, “Army of Me” as well as “Human Behavior.”
She first gained international recognition as the lead singer of theband , whose 1987 single “ ” was a hit on US and UK indie stations and a favorite among music critics.

Gwen Stefani has been an American sweetheart for a long time and has had a long-running wonderful solo career. Her hits include “Hollaback Girl”, “What You Waiting For”, “Luxurious” and more.
As most people know, Gwen Stefani started out in the ska-rock band “No Doubt” which had a slew of hits. It really propelled her to fame.

Annie Lennox was quite a phenomenon back in the day and had an amazing solo career with hits such as “Walking On Broken Glass”, “Why”, “Little Bird”, “A Whiter Shade of Pale” and “No More “I Love You’s”.
Eurythmics were a British music duo consisting of members Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart. Stewart and Lennox were both previously in the band The Tourists, who split up in 1980.
It’s a shame that Lauryn Hill doesn’t really sing anymore as she has a velvety smooth stunning voice. Her major hits as a solo artist include “The Ex-Factor” and “Doo Wop” off her masterpiece of an album – “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.”
Lauryn was in the unforgettable group “The Fugees” with Wyclef Jean and Pras and had the killer hits “Ready Or Not”, “Fu-Gee-La” and “Killing Me Softly.”

Pharrell Williams is a very established name in the music industry and has worked with the best from Snoop Dogg to Jay-Z. His hit “Happy” did phenomenally well with worldwide success.

Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner CBE, known as Sting, is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and actor. He has a superb voice and has amazing hits such as “Shape of My Heart” and “Fields of Gold.”
Before he went solo, Sting was part of the band “The Police” which did phenomenally well with hits such as “Every Breath You Take”, “Roxanne”, “Message In A Bottle” and “Every Little Thing She Does.”
