Restless Richard
Richard Gere was a strong-willed actor and had a mind of his own. When they started the filming for Pretty Woman, he decided on his own accord that Edward should have a restless and can’t-sit-still kind of personality. So, funnily enough, he started moving around a lot on his scenes and between his scripted tasks.

When Director Gary Marshall eventually caught on to what Richard was doing, he confronted him, telling him to stop at once with the fidgeting. After all, that was not the character that Gary had in mind for Edward Lewis, and we just can’t fathom why Richard wanted to introduce this quirk into his character. But he did give in to Gary’s vision for Edward, and there was no more restlessness on the set.
