Marie Fell into a Depression

With the show now off the air, Donny’s and Maries’ careers never reached the heights they experienced in the early 70s. Marie was struggling in the following years. At one point, she checked herself into a mental hospital for her depression. She even considered undergoing extreme treatments for depression. Sadly, Marie was to be riddled with depression for most of her life.

In 1999, she was at the peak of her depression. She was, at that point, terrified of losing her career or even harming herself, so she asked her family to take her to a mental hospital. The facility had padded walls, straitjackets, and electric shock treatments available. But Marie decided against the treatment and continued with her recovery in a safer way.
