Getting Their Break at Disneyland
When the singing boys tried for a wider audience, it failed because Lawrence Welk wasn’t looking for another act at that time. The family, disappointed, went to Disneyland and saw a pavilion featuring barbershop music. A performer saw four boys dressed alike and asked if they could sing and that’s how the Osmond boys got their big break.
The Osmonds quickly became famous. They shot to Partridge Family kind of stardom. It didn’t take long for fans to be chasing after the singing family as if they were the Beatles. Donny and Marie (the only girl of the Osmond children) were just the two lovable kids who stole the show. But even at the top, they struggled.
