Not Just Their Heads
Even the greatest pieces of work need a first draft or a model, even Mount Rushmore. You can’t create a masterpiece without making a few versions of it first. Mount Rushmore didn’t originally look like the way it does now, with only their heads.

This rare photo shows us how Mount Rushmore would have looked like if the decision to keep the presidents’ upper bodies was carried out. Maybe the creator thought it was too much work and simply completed the faces. Who knows.
