What Was Once a Confidential is Now Exposed: Declassified U.S. Government Photos

The truth is out there. These declassified photos from the United States Government’s Central Intelligence Agency were once classified, meaning they were considered top secret. But eventually, all things come to light, just as these photos did. These once confidential images that the government kept hidden are now revealed to the public. And you can judge them as you will.

From hidden bomb shelters to Area 51 aircraft and machinery to Pablo Escobar at the White House, these are all fascinating images of real people and places in American history. We can finally get a glimpse of what hush-hush activities were really going on just under our noses.

What China’s Hiding?

China has been deemed as the world’s next superpower, behind the United States of course. As you can see in this image, they have a humongous telescope with supposedly the world’s strongest signal.

What China’s Hiding?

The telescope is claimed to have the ability to detect all types of radio signals, even those a thousand light years away. It has also been said that this base is likely to be an ionosphere controller, which means it could also manipulate the weather.

Next, a photo from the 1960s, which added to the already established sense of paranoia…

Pablo Visited the White House

At one point, the Federal Bureau of Investigation had on its list of the most wanted criminals in the world drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. And this was most likely after he went to the White House for a visit, during a tour of the United States with his son.

Little did the government know he would be so close yet so far.

The Prototype

The United States wanted to keep ahead of all kinds of technology. They wanted to make sure that they are delivering the best that money could buy. This was a prototype of an ejection seat. That’s right. An ejection seat.

The Central Intelligence Agency declassified this photo which let us in on the world of technology in the olden days of science and advancement.

The Cold War Secret

This photo was taken in the 1960s, during an era when most Americans had nuclear bunkers just in case Cuba or Russia “accidentally” pressed the button that would essentially lead to a nuclear war. If this was seen by the public at the time, the entire nation would have entered a state of chaos.

The Cold War Secret

But fortunately for the American public, the CIA chose to keep the photo of Russian soldiers in the midst of a chemical weapons warehouse during the Cold War away from everyone’s attention.

Not Just Their Heads

Even the greatest pieces of work need a first draft or a model, even Mount Rushmore. You can’t create a masterpiece without making a few versions of it first. Mount Rushmore didn’t originally look like the way it does now, with only their heads.

Not Just Their Heads

This rare photo shows us how Mount Rushmore would have looked like if the decision to keep the presidents’ upper bodies was carried out. Maybe the creator thought it was too much work and simply completed the faces. Who knows.

Official FBI’s Documents on UFOs

It was the year 1963 when the government reportedly encountered an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) over the desert of Nevada. And at that time, government officials wrote down what they saw in detail in attempts to have an official record of the event.

This document is an authentic written report of the said UFO encounter presented by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Some written details have been intentionally excluded, considering its classified nature.

The First Nuclear Bomb

This is not some ordinary factory worker next to some random yet humungous piece of machinery. Oh contraire. This previously unseen photo was taken in 1945 in the desert of New Mexico. It shows the place in which the government conducted its “Trinity” project.

The First Nuclear Bomb

It makes you wonder how a seemingly inconspicuous desert land in the country would be the site of such a destructive piece of history.

Have you seen what a nuclear explosion actually looks like?

Ivy Mike

After the U.S. government dropped nuclear bombs in both Nagasaki and Hiroshima in 1945, it detonated a thermonuclear device as a form of a trial in the Pacific Ocean, in 1952. It was part of the government’s “Operation Ivy.”

The first test of the thermonuclear device was nicknamed “Ivy Mike” which is shown here having blown up in the Pacific Ocean’s Marshall Islands, on November 1st, 1952.

The Roswell Crash Site

Roswell is known for being the location of the crash site of an Unidentified Flying Object. It’s basically a conspiracy theorist’s dream just talking about and conjuring up ideas about what really happened in Roswell. There’s more than a few films, TV shows, and books that had their say on the crash site.

This picture is seen as evidence of the Roswell UFO crash site. Though the photo may not answer any of the conspiracy theorists’ questions, what it does is show that something happened in Roswell.

Do you know what is meant by the “fat man”? See the next photo…

The “Fat Man”

No, the fat man is not a description of an overweight gentleman. It was the nickname given to a bomb that was eventually dropped on August 9, 1945, over Nagasaki, the Japanese city. This exceptional photo is a piece of history.

This is what the bomb looked like before it went on to destroy the city and turn Nagasaki to a pile of ashes. Not only do we see a literal bomb, but we also see what the government was capable of at the time.

Area 51 Airplane or UFO?

Area 51 has been rumored to be the secret military base of the United States government. It’s located in the Nevada desert and said to be the place where numerous sightings of UFOs happened.

Area 51 Airplane or UFO?

Source: Pinterest

This unique photo shows the possible reason why Area 51 was considered to be the place for UFOs. It could just be that people could have thought this upside down SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance plane was actually an alien spacecraft, due to its unconventional shape.

Next, a former senator who was taken prisoner in Vietnam…

The Late Senator Was Once in Vietnam

The late Senator John McCain was seen here in Vietnam being taken out of the water by citizens after his plane was shot down. McCain used to be a United States airman who was assigned to fly over Vietnam.

This moment in which his plane went down and crashed into the waters of Hanoi, Vietnam, shows how the locals saw him as the enemy and eventually took him to prison. This photo was taken in 1967.

Area 51: Material for Conspiracy Theorists

Area 51, described as a UFO magnet, has long been the subject matter for conspiracy theories. This photo of an aircraft just shows you why it was, and still is, such a popular topic of discussion.

This “flying object” was actually an experimental aircraft made by the U.S. Air Force. It was one of the few aircrafts created for the purpose of trying out different air carriers. Similar aircrafts were also created by the government and seen over the southwest region, which only contributed to the myth of UFOs.

Next, an unseen view from the Pentagon on that dreadful day…

A View From the Pentagon

This photo was only recently declassified by the U.S. government. If you look at it, you’ll realize the extent of the damage that one commercial airplane can cause if crashed into a building. Here, it was the Pentagon.

This newly exposed photo shows the extreme destruction that happened at the Pentagon. It was typically unseen as most photos were seen of the twin towers instead.

Pilot Fatigue

This photo shows us how the United States government would train pilots to fight off fatigue. It was taken in 1949 from the United States Air Force, illustrating the ways pilots were able to fly for longer time periods in perilous situations.

But this prototype didn’t see the light of day, maybe because it is an awkward way to fly a plane. This image was eventually released and made available for the public to see.

A secret airbase is next…

Otherwise Known as Johnson Atoll

This secret airbase was also known as Johnson Atoll and has been considered a top secret location. Sot’s situated right in the center of the Pacific Ocean, reportedly where numerous nuclear tests were carried out.

The government made sure it disclosed only a little amount of information when such nuclear tests were being conducted. However, the photos were recently declassified and now serve as evidence of the extent to which the government wanted to create and test destructive man-made forces.

Roswell Once Again

Roswell, as we mentioned before, is known for being the crash site of a UFO. Roswell is in New Mexico, and for some reason, it was chosen as the landing site. This recently released picture may be proof that something really happened.

Roswell Once Again

According to official documents from the United States government, an Unidentified Flying Object crashed in Roswell in which scattered debris can be seen in the picture. But the rest of the document’s details are omitted, deepening Roswell’s mystery.

The moment before the moment, next…

JFK, a Moment Before…

This picture of the late United States president John F Kennedy shows the last moment he was seen alive and well before being assassinated in Dallas, Texas. He was with his wife, Jacqueline.

This declassified picture is said to show one of the assassin’s accomplices, yet such detail was never verified. Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. The official report of the assassination states that Oswald was the lone gunman.

Hidden Bunkers

Back in the 1960s at the height of the Cold War era, the U.S. government had no shortage of nuclear bunkers. Some were even embedded in mountains, as seen here.

Hidden Bunkers

Here is evidence that the government attempted to protect high-ranking officials by building hidden bunkers. The recently declassified image shows that these bunkers were even located in Virginia’s remote wilderness.

Next, even Disney characters deserve some lunch…

Lunch Time in Disneyland

Disneyland is the stuff dreams are made of, right? But the employees of the company still need to eat. Their hunger isn’t fictional. Here we see Snow White, Goofy, and the rest of the Disney gang taking a break and eating some cafeteria grub.

However, such behind the scenes images were hidden from the public and only recently declassified. This is a unique look into Disney employees on a regular day at work – something theme park-goers may not have wanted to see.

When the Caged Baby Sings

This rare picture shows the security measures people took back in the day to keep their babies safe. Although people may consider this a cage, it’s not.

It’s just a window with enough bars to keep a baby safe from falling out.

Next, another Area 51 occurrence…

Area 51 “Spaceship”

This picture is of military staff loading a UFO into a truck. This is likely one of the aircraft that the government built as part of their series of tests.

You might notice the weather balloon attached to the UFO. This only proves that it was part of a classified experiment. The UFO must have weighed a ridiculous amount too, so it’s quite remarkable to see.

Have you ever seen the first slides in children’s playgrounds? See the next photo…

The First Slides

What did children do before the year 1922, when the first ever slide was invented and thus changed the world of playgrounds for children? This picture shows the world’s first slide as invented by Charles Wickstead, a man from England who made the first recorded slide from wood.

Looking at it now, kids must have gotten had splinters (ouch!) while sliding down. The invention helped revolutionize children’s parks and brought a new form of fun that is still used today.

The Original Diving Suit

This picture was declassified by the U.S. government because they wanted to keep the patent of the original diving suit a secret. The United States designed its own diving suit and made sure its details and its image were kept under wraps.

Now that we can see this recently exposed image, it’s apparent that a big fuss was made for nothing.

Ever heard of Operation High Jump? Now you will…

“Operation High Jump”

The United States government was involved in a number of missions designed to further its control. One mission has been called “Operation High Jump” whose objective was to create a classified military research facility in the Arctic region.

Another goal was to use it as a base to spy on Russia more easily. This recently declassified photo shows a ship of the United States Navy stuck between two Arctic icebergs.

The Queen Did Her Part

Not many know that the Queen did some military service for the English military. Similar to what her grandchildren William and Harry did, both of whom served for the British Forces, the Queen did so, too.

This rare picture shows Queen Elizabeth wearing her military uniform as those belonging in the Women’s Auxilary service did. The Queen was often promoted while doing service for the army.

The next photo is a historical image most haven’t seen…

Before it Became the Berlin Wall

Before it was known as the Berlin Wall, it had to be constructed from scratch. The now declassified picture showed when the construction was still being done to separate West Berlin from East Berlin and from West Germany back in 1961.

The making of the wall marked the start of the Cold War, thus creating the divide between Russia and the United States. Eventually, as we know, the Berlin Wall was taken down in 1991.

The 1972 Moon Landing

Many people just couldn’t wrap their heads around the moon landing that occurred in 1972. As shown in this picture, Apollo 17 landed on the moon, which became a major debate among conspiracy theorists.

Cernan, Evans, and Schmitt returned to Earth on December 19 after their 12-day mission to the moon. Apollo 17 was the most recent manned Moon landing and the most recent time in which humans traveled beyond low Earth orbit.

Next, another look at the Fat Man…

Fat Man Before Nagasaki

The Fat Man is back. The declassified picture shows the infamous bomb before it was dropped in the Japanese city of Nagasaki. The technician is doing a final check on the bomb by applying sealant.

There was more than just one Fat Man the United States Government that was built for the occasion. There were four identical atomic bombs created just in case one failed to explode.

Osama Bin Laden at a Happier Point in His Life

Before Osama Bin Laden was known as America’s most wanted terrorist, he seemed to lead a normal life with his family. This now published photo of Osama shows him on holiday in Germany with his entire family.

But even back then, it was reported that Osama was already harboring radical views which some members of his family didn’t agree with. There was an eventual split between blood relatives.

The 1794 Project

The United States Airforce had its share of secrets up its sleeves. One of them was declassified for everyone to see. This is a drawing of a supersonic flying saucer that was eventually built by the American Airforce.

It was the beginning stages of all the projects they eventually executed and the results being the photos we saw of all the American flying saucers made and flown for testing purposes.

The Schienenzeppelin

Germany’s is known for its precision, which can be seen with the creation of the Schienenzeppelin, the nation’s method to compete with the creation of the first high-speed train. The Schienenzeppelin was supposedly able to travel at 143 miles per hour.

As shown by this recently released photo, the Schienenzeppelin has a sleek design that let it travel seamlessly through air. The aircraft was allegedly smuggled from Germany in 1944.

Haven’t seen enough UFO images yet? The next was also released recently…

UFO Here We Go

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), declassified a ton of pictures from its archives, including this one. Here we see a government official checking out the “unidentified” flying object.

UFO Here We Go

Not sure what he’s checking, but this was clearly a flying saucer that the government created. Maybe he was checking for marks that would give it away.

Classified military bases

Thanks to the declassification of a bunch of Central Intelligence Agency documents, a whole heap of pictures have been made available to the American public. Besides the popular UFO images, the government released images of their underground military bases.

Classified military bases

Apparently, such bases were utilized as strategic strike locations when the nation was at war with the Soviet Union during the Cold War years. The government claims that these bases are no longer in operation and have been abandoned, or so they say.

Some photos, like the next one, are simply cool to see…

More Area 51 Aircrafts

Area 51 will forever be a topic for conspiracy theorists to debate the Unidentified Flying Objects. But now with these photos, the public can get an idea of all the shenanigans that were taking place.

The Nevada Air Force Base will be kept a mystery ever since the infamous Roswell crash. Here, we see an aircraft that was being built for who knows what…

Nuclear Waste Facility

In the mountains of Yucca, Nevada is a facility that is considered a top-secret site, the details of which haven’t been revealed to the public. All we get to see is this photo.

Nuclear Waste Facility

The facility is supposed to be where all of the country’s nuclear wastes are stored. These radioactive materials are kept here once they are of no use. It’s unclear how the staff is manning the facility to avoid all the radiation!

Top Secret and Impenetrable

The Cheyenne Mountain Complex has been hyped as the biggest secret facility in the United States government. Those who have been inside the facility assert that its underground bunker is so highly classified that you’re required to have a top-secret clearance in order to enter the site.

Reportedly, the complex serves as the Air Force’s headquarters for the land-based ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles). It’s top secret and totally impenetrable to nuclear blasts.

Highway to Area 51

As strange as a man-made UFO may be, and as unlikely it is to see one, we need to remember that it also had to be transported from one place to another. This is pretty much the proof you need to know that no aliens were in charge here.

This recently declassified picture shows a truck transporting the suspicious object. You have to wonder what drivers on the highway thought when seeing this giant UFP-shaped object on a truck.

“Little Boy”

Military personnel nicknamed the deadly atomic bomb as “Little Boy,” similar to the Fat Boy. It’s quite chilling to see soldiers making their final checks on a nuclear bomb that could potentially blow at any second.
