Gale Sayers
Gale Sayers was drafted to the NFL out of the University of Kansas by the Chicago Bears in 1965. The fast running back had amassed 2,272 combined rushing, receiving, and kick return yards, as well as 22 touchdowns in his rookie year alone!
After a series of severe knee injuries, Sayers was forced to retire at just 27 years old, but would later be the youngest NFL player ever to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
