Jim Hines Breaking the 10 Seconds Barrier

Each season of the Olympics is bound to entertain fans with a new historical record, and the 1968 Summer Olympics hosted in Mexico was no different. It was on that significant day when the African-American sprinter Jim Hines, made his name in the history books as the fastest man on earth after breaking the 10-seconds record in the 100m race. He completed his race in 9.95, seconds and set a new world record. Hines went ahead to set another record in the four by 100m race when he ran his part for only 8.2 seconds.
