Making a Name for Herself
After her role in Money on the Street, Lamarr got her first speaking part the following year in a 1931 movie called Storm in a Water Glass. From there, she was spotted by Max Reinhardt, a theater and film director, who decided to give her a role in a play called The Weaker Sex. Reinhardt was blown away by her performance and beauty.
He was so impressed that he insisted she accompanies him to Berlin to work on more projects. And that’s exactly what she did, but she quickly split from Reinhardt after meeting a Russian director called Alexis Granowsky. He offered her a big role in his movie, Trunks of Mr. O.F.
