Marie’s Health Was Suffering
Due to the high-stress environment of their variety show, Marie’s health was suffering. Their producers were nothing near sympathetic. They even threatened to cancel the show if Marie didn’t lose enough weight. So she began starving herself. Think about it: Marie was just 15 years old and trying to handle the weight of an entire TV show on her shoulders.

In a later interview, Marie said, “I had producers take me out into the parking lot when I was 103 pounds and tell me that I was obese, disgusting and a disgrace to my family.” She was ordered to get down to 97 pounds!
